Mercedes Ávila Renedo, teacher at Santa Teresa School in León, Spain, wins the National eTwinning 2022 Award for a project that has brought together five European schools.
On 22 November, the eTwinning 2022 National Awards ceremony was held in Madrid, presided over by the Spanish Minister for Education, Pilar Alegría. Mercedes Ávila Renedo, a teacher at the TA School in León, received the National eTwinning Award in the Secondary Education category for the project “"The unfolding of time: word-based territories”.
This is a project that creatively brings Spanish literature of the 19th and 20th centuries to 190 students from five schools in Spain, Italy and Bulgaria, simulating a journey through time through three assignments: Romanticism, Realism and the Moderns.
This is a highly innovative project at a pedagogical level which, moreover, is fully integrated into the curriculum, working on literature and integrating content from other subjects. It stands out for its excellent use of ICT tools, both in TwinSpace and beyond.
Pupils in the 4th year of ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education) at Santa Teresa School in Leon, an eTwinning Centre for several years, actively participated in this project. It was undertaken in the subject of Spanish Language and Literature, during the 2020-2021 school year.
Its aim was literary education from an interdisciplinary and European perspective to provoke interest and active participation in the classroom. It also aimed to foster digital competence, create collaborative gamified e-learning scenarios and foster innovation in secondary school classes.
The National eTwinning Awards are a recognition by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Vocational Training of the best international collaboration projects carried out by Spanish teachers through this European platform.
