Maddalena Pievaioli is the new Postulator General of the Teresian Association. This follows the approval of her appointment by the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints on 19 October and her taking of the oath of office in the Vatican on 4 November.

Maddalena Pievaioli replaces Maria Encarnación González who, as we all know well, has been carrying out this service with diligence, enthusiasm and great results for the past twenty-six years.

Three members of the Association are currently in the process of canonisation. These are Blessed Victoria Diez, whose birth anniversary we celebrate on 11 November, and Josefa Segovia and Elisa Giambelluca, both venerable.

Background

Following approval by the General Council during their session on 7 June, the appointment as Postulator of Maddalena Pievaioli, currently Secretary General of the TA, was communicated to the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints by the TA President on 24 June. Confirmation by that Vatican Dicastery now sets in motion the process of the transfer of functions.

The new postulator graduated in Literature and also holds a degree in Theology. She completed an Advanced Training Course on the Causes of Saints organised by the Dicastery and the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. Maddalena Pievaioli’s concluding thesis was on “The Universal Call to Holiness”.

This is the month of November, a time when we remember all those members who have attained sainthood, some recognised by the Church and the rest without any official recognition. During this month, the Teresian Association is carrying out the handover of functions according to the Dicastery regulations for postulators.
