Message of peace and hope

On that day, the nineteenth anniversary of the canonisation of Pedro Poveda by Pope John Paul II in Madrid, students and teachers from the school walked through the streets of the commune of Maipú carrying a message of peace and hope, as a sign of joy for being part of the great dream of Poveda.

On arrival at the church, the national shrine and basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we had a Mass of thanksgiving presided by Father Andrés Sepúlveda, friend and chaplain of the school. The President of the Teresian Association, Maite Uribe Bilbao, was present.maipu misa

Ana López González, the school principal, said in her words of welcome, “Poveda’s holiness encourages our commitment to peace and life. His deep love for Jesus Christ shows us how to be people of peace and goodness. He was faithful to his priesthood to the point of giving his life as a priest of Christ, and we renew our daily commitment as family, as students and as educators”.

For the little ones

Meanwhile, pupils from pre-kinder to 5th grade joined in this faith festival at the school. They were accompanied by their teachers as they made a pilgrimage from station to station. In addition to playing, dancing and singing for this special day, they learned about some important events in Poveda’s life.
