After having prepared the Christian community since 2018, the Archdiocese of Davao in southeastern Mindanao, established the San Pedro Poveda Parish on December 3, 2021. The new parish was officially created by virtue of the Decree of Canonical Establishment signed by His Excellency Romulo G. Valles, DD, Archbishop of Davao. Fr. Elneri “Menying” B. Meñez was installed as the first Parish Priest.

Castroverde, cuidando la vida (Castroverde, caring for life) is the title of a recently published video presentation about the Castroverde Clinical Analysis Laboratory. This is a Teresian Association project in Malabo that started as a small seed and is about to celebrate thirty years of existence. During that time, it has been providing a great service to the people of Equatorial Guinea.

The seminar on a Povedan approach to accompaniment is taking place in both on-site and online formats. It opened recently with the participation of nearly sixty people from different countries. The programme will be held in six sessions over two years.
On 16 October 2021, we celebrated 25 years of presence of the Teresian Association in Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium, around Catherine Chevalier, the kingpin of this continuous presence, by remembering all the people from the Association who have lived for some time in this university town.
The new premises where a group of the TA carries out its mission with various courses of attention to migrants and refugees in the Holy Land were blessed and inaugurated in a simple ceremony on November 6.
Some fifty young people answered an invitation sent out by the Teresian Association in Italy to take part in an art competition-exhibition. They were to freely express their experiences of the pandemic through art.
Bridging the gap is a mentoring and volunteering initiative that took place last summer between these two countries. It started with the desire to accompany secondary school students from vulnerable groups with support in their subjects, and at the same time to offer meaningful experiences of online or face-to-face volunteering to young people who wanted to give some of their free time for the benefit of others.
The Bishop of Guadix, Francisco Jesús Orozco, has declared the parish of Nuestra Señora de Gracia (Our Lady of Grace) in the district of Las Cuevas (The Caves) a diocesan shrine, renaming it “The Shrine of Our Lady of Grace and St Pedro Poveda”. He also blessed the new diocesan chapel dedicated to St. Pedro Poveda.
Dinorah García Romero, rector of the “Instituto Superior Especializado de Estudios Educativos Pedro Poveda”, ISESP, has been invested as a full member of the Academy of Sciences of the Dominican Republic in a ceremony in which she was sworn in and received the proper symbols and titles that accredit her.
WORLD YOUTH DAY
On the feast of St Francis Assisi it was announced that World Youth Day Lisbon 2023 has been set for August 1-6. At the same time, the Pope's Message for this year's World Youth Day at the local level that will be held on November 21, coinciding with the feast of Christ the King, has been released.
PILGRIMAGE AND OFFERING
A substantial number of people were able to be present in person, and many others joined us in the Voto de Covadonga 2021 pilgrimage by means of the Covadonga direct online channel. This annual event has been taking place since 1934. It is an occasion when the Teresian Association expresses gratitude to Our Lady by presenting the fruits of our mission from different parts of the world.
“O youth, you can conquer the world, no more no less!” This theme reverberated near to 150 young people from the different islands of the Philippines gathered virtually for the launching of the annual program of IT Youth, the youth movement of the TA in this country.
A large group of young teachers and university professors joined the webinar to share good educational practices and approaches in the country in this pandemic situation that imposes intensive use of technology and online teaching. It was the second forum organized by the Poveda Center for Educators Formation (PCEF) and the Circle of Discernment.
The boys of the Bana Ya Poveda Center have celebrated in a special way the feast of St. Pedro Poveda and continue with enthusiasm their education, working in the garden, in their job training, in the computer classroom... rebuilding their lives above all.
