Haiti needs your help... Let's join InteRed's campaign!

INTERED

Haiti, the poorest country in the American continent and one of the poorest in the world, is once again on the news, in the newspapers... As it usually happens, the cause is a terrible catastrophe, one more for a people who were still trying to recover from the earthquake that devastated the country in 2010.

Last Saturday, August 14, the earth shook again in Haiti. A new earthquake, with a magnitude 7.2 on the Richter scale, has hit hard an already economically and institutionally battered country. To date, the death toll has risen to more than 1,300, and the number of injured exceeds 5,700. These are shocking figures, but the consequences of this earthquake go far beyond that.

In a country with weak infrastructure, a weak government, and a battered economy, the consequences of the earthquake translate into a lack of access to basic services, drinking water, transportation, medical care, electricity... The earthquake has demolished hundreds of buildings and, most importantly, the dreams and hopes of a Haitian population sadly accustomed to living between natural disasters and economic and health crises.

Haiti needs our help. From InteRed we have already set out to get our help, your help, to Haiti. We are working from our delegation in the Dominican Republic, in collaboration with our partners in Haiti.
