“Un hombre bajaba de Jerusalén a Jericó. Gestos de Misericordia” (A Man Went from Jerusalem to Jericho. Gestures of Mercy) is the title of a book originally written in Italian by Dr. Annunziata and Fr. Paganelli and now published in Spanish by Editorial Sal Terrae. The authors relate their missionary experience in “villas miseria” and the Amazon Jungle, in Peru. On April 6th, it was presented in Jaén at the Headquarters of the Teresian Association.
Hopes and concerns of actual society was the theme developed on a round table encounter organized by the Chair of Pedro Poveda of the Pontifical University of Salamanca last April 18th at the campus this university has in Madrid.
"Dozens of immigrants find a helping hand in the Teresian Association," was a headline of the daily news Ideal of Jaén. The article describes the activities of the Rajab Project, which is directed by the Teresian Association in this city. Puri Infante, director of the program, speaks of the need to give visibility to those who "are on the street and we go by them as if they did not exist."
Titikachi, La Paz, Bolivia.
CETHA (Center for Technical, Humanistic, Agricultural Education, in Spanish) of Titikachi, is located in the highlands of Bolivia in the province of Dolls, Department of La Paz, inaugurated in late 2012 "a tinglado," which is a large roofed structure built with the generous donations from members, collaborators and friends of the Teresian Association during the celebrations of the centenary of the TA.
Manos Unidas’ campaign on Voluntary Fast this year, focusing on the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women, is celebrated with the slogan: “There is no justice without equality” on Friday, February 8, which marks the 50th anniversary of Voluntary Fast. There are 870 millions of reasons to live in solidarity with those who are hungry.
¨With the heart we believe, with the lips we profess” Faith as gift, testimony and commitment is the theme for the third course of the Chair of Josefa Segovia at CITeS , University of Mysticism, in Avila, Spain, that will take place on March 8-10.
Maite Uribe, President of the Teresian Association, in a message sent to all the members of the Association, invites us to start the New Year with Mary’s attitude, as expressed in her Magnificat: “Learn from Mary to proclaim that the God who works marvels in her is the faithful God who commits himself day by day, year by year, to each person and to each generation. He is the merciful God who exalts the lowly and fills the hungry with good things, the God of tenderness and faithfulness who enters history to prepare ways of peace and justice.”
On November 21. the NGO InteRed, with its volunteers, members of the board, its partners, staff and friends, celebrated its 20 anniversary (1992-2012) in a ceremony held at the General Secretariat of Ibero-America, in Madrid.
The Pedro Poveda Chair (PPC) was created on July 28, 2000 through an agreement between the Pontifical University of Salamanca (UPSA) and the Teresian Association (TA). Both institutions subsidize it as well as promote and co-direct the activities associated with it. It is linked to the Department of Theology of the UPSA in Salamanca but the activities may take place at other campuses of this University in Madrid and other Spanish cities.
“Aquí, qué chilero” (how happy). These were the words of one of the many children that participated on Friday, July 27, to celebrate the feast of St. Pedro Poveda in the Socio-Educational Project “Xajanaj Kahalepana” in Chinautla, Guatemala.
The Teresian Association European Volunteering Programme came about in 2008 with the aim of coordinating positive actions in this geographical area.
